On May 7, 2026, the University of Sarajevo – Institute for the Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law was visited by a delegation of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, led by Ramadan Shkodra, Director for Publishing and Culture at the Islamic Community of Kosovo, together with his associates Bashkim Mehani, an official of the Directorate for Culture and Publishing Activities, and Azmir Jusufi. The delegation also included Muhamed Jusić, Director of the Directorate for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with his associates.
The meeting with the delegation of the Islamic Community of Kosovo was held during their visit to Sarajevo, on the occasion of the opening of a joint exhibition organized by the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Islamic Community of Kosovo, dedicated to the destruction of mosques and the devastation of Islamic cultural heritage.
The delegation was hosted by the Director of the Institute, Dr. Muamer Džananović, together with the Institute’s Secretary Edis Ikanović and researchers Prof. Dr. Ermin Kuko, Dr. Zilha Mastalić Košuta, and Dr. Alma Hajrić-Čaušević.
During the meeting, the work of the Institute was presented, with special emphasis on scientific research activities, publishing work, as well as years of systematic documentation of crimes committed during the 1992–1995 aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as crimes from other historical periods.
Members of the delegation also visited the Institute’s archive, where they were introduced to part of the rich archival and documentary material preserved and processed within the Institute’s scientific and research activities.
The visit took place in a cordial and substantive atmosphere, with an exchange of experiences and discussions on the importance of preserving historical truth, the culture of remembrance, and institutional networking among institutions dealing with war crimes research and the protection of cultural and historical heritage.
Ramadan Shkodra stated that the visit expressed particular interest in strengthening institutional cooperation with institutions from Kosovo that nurture the culture of remembrance, emphasizing that the Institute’s experience and knowledge would be of great importance to researchers and institutions in Kosovo in their further scientific and research work.
The Director of the Institute, Dr. Muamer Džananović, thanked the delegation for the visit and the expressed interest in the Institute’s work, stressing that the Institute remains available to researchers and institutions from Kosovo for the exchange of experience, professional cooperation, and transfer of knowledge in the fields of crime research, documentation of historical facts, and development of a culture of remembrance.
