During the 25 years of its existence, the Institute organized a large number of conferences in various cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Institute conducted the process of conceptualization and realization of several scientific research projects, whose results were published in several studies.
The Institute has archive material composed of original documents of military and police structures, expert reports, statements of victims and witnesses, documents of national and international organizations...
The Institute's library contains literature of great importance for all aspects of investigating crimes against humanity and international law, and provides a rich source of information for researchers and others.
The Institute was established on September 4, 1992, pursuant to the Decree of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was confirmed at the session of the Assembly of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on June 1, 1994.
